Introduction to IBUS75 Course Process
This course is developed in conjunction with 40+ Logistics Companies that assisted with the course design and course content based on current logistics trends and practices. One of the most significant Logistics Industry requirements is the ability to work in a collaborative process against changing environmental conditions.
This course is not a traditional academic course. We use traditional academic processes in conjunction with current practical material and exercises. The textbook is used as a reference source in conjunction with current videos, links and research. We have industry video interviews discussing important issues.
This course is not an Import Export course. We cover the basics of Import Export, but refer students to IBUS20 (Import/Export: To introduce students to the aspects, tools, and practices of Export / Import, To provide students with the knowledge to enter the Export / Import career field and to introduce the financial, legal, and management challenges of Export / Import.)
This class is organized and operated similar to a business enterprise, with the goal of the enterprise to educate it's associates (students) and create a public peer reviewed Logistics Plan. This work gives student's real life business/logistics experience they can reference in job interviews. My role is of a "Steward" of the process to provide student's with hand's on experience running a logistics business.
The course is delivered into 4 sections, Collaboration, Technical Training of relevant current Basic Transportation/Warehousing, Basic Logistics and a Logistics Plan. Concurrently, the class works on an optional Collaborative Peer Project using the skills developed during the course.
We will survey each student for their expectations, experience level and reasons for selecting this course to guide both the delivery and content for this specific semester. We also assist in helping each student document a learning plan through the use of the Student's Self Evaluation Process.
The Tests are developed for each class/semester based on all the material covered and not solely the textbook. Typically, most of the testing and assignments come in the 2nd half of the semester, after the students have had several chances to review the material.
